Helen George Obituary

George, Helen "Bucky" ARKVILLE, N.Y. Helen "Bucky" George, 82, of Arkville, died unexpectedly, while visiting a daughter in Grand Junction, Colo. Helen originally from Mansfield, Mass., and was employed at Margaret-ville Memorial Hospital as a RN charge nurse for 45 years before her retirement in 1992. Helen's passions included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for whom she sacrificed all personal needs and wants, putting her family first. She enjoyed collecting dolls and was the all time best bargain shopper, finding great deals for her family and friends. Helen was a Yankee fan and enjoyed watching her team with her granddaughter, Erin and her husband Matt. Helen loved St. Patrick's Day and was proud of her Irish heritage. Her favorite holiday was Christmas with her family, where she took tremendous pleasure in watching her family open the many gifts that filled the house. Helen was a caring and compassionate person, be it at a patient's bedside or with her family and friends. Her door was always open, helping many in their time of need. Her house was always bustling with activity, and for Helen, the more the merrier. Helen is survived by four sons, Carson M. George Jr. of Arkville, N.Y., Stephen George of Greenville, N.Y., Jonathan George of Arkville, and Timothy George of Margaretville. She is survived by six daughters, Cathleen Spickerman of Delmar, N.Y., Colleen Davis of Albany, N.Y, Jeanne Marie George of Steubenville, Ohio, Patricia and husband Lonnie Miller of Grand Junction, Colo, Pamela Smith of Shandaken, N.Y. and Lisa George of Lodi, Ohio. Helen is survived by ten grandchildren, Jennifer (Spickerman) and husband Mike Ennist of Margaretville, Justin Spickerman and Adrienne McMillian of Halcottsville, N.Y., Damon Davis of Grand Junction, Shawn Davis of Frisco, Colo. Jared George of Houston, Texas, Brendon and Kaitlyn Smith of Shandaken, Jessica and Stephanie George of Greenville, N.Y. and Erin (George) and husband Matt Mead of Albany. She is survived by four great-grandchildren, Jordan Ennist of Margaretville, Kathryn McMillian and Ella Spickerman of Halcottsville and the future son of Erin and Matt Mead. Helen is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Mass. and in N.J. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Carson M. George in 1978; daughter, Maureen Erin George in 1998; and son-in-law, Tim Smith in 2007. Also, her mother, Catherine Noonan Buckley; brothers, James Buckley and his wife Stella of Dedham, Mass., William Buckley of Westwood, Mass. and sister, Jeanne Buckley and son, Mark of Readville, Mass. We Love You Mom, Gram, Mama, Aunt Helen and Bucky!!! Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 1, 2008 at Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville. Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell, celebrant. Although you're gone, I'm not alone, and never shall I be.
For the memories we have shared will never depart from me.

Our love surpassed the ups and downs, and helped us along the way. And that same love will give me strength to manage this loss each day.

On my mind and in my heart, Mom, you shall forever be, for just as much as I am a part of you, you are a part of me.

Miss you Mom, Love you Mom,

If roses grow in Heaven Lord,
please pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my mom's arms
and tell her they're from me.
Tell her I love her and miss her
and when she turns to smile,
place a kiss upon her cheek
and hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy,
I do it everyday,
but there is an ache within my heart
that will never go away.
Miss you Mom. Love you Mom.

Missing Mom on Her Birthday

I read the cards for Mother
and the versus bring a tear,
for the loving words are written
to those who are still here

You always loved the cards we sent
you saved them through the years
you said they made you feel so loved,
you eyes glistening with tears

They say you are in a better place
I hope and pray its true,
but, today is your Birthday,
and I am so missing you.

Happy Birthday Mom
Love, Cathleen

We thought of you today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought of you yesterday
And will tomorrow, too.

We think of you in silence
And make no outward show.
For what it meant to lose you
Only those who love you know.

Remembering you is easy,
We do it everyday.
It's the heartache of losing you
That will never go away.

We miss you and love you so very much, especially this day, your 1st year anniversary in heaven.

I wasn't ready to loose her,
my mom of 82 years.
My heart aches for her presence,
among all the fallen tears.

She was a kind and gentle woman,
always doing her family right,
her unconditional love
was a strong and apparent sight.

Her grandkids she had much pride and joy, her blue eyes lighting up upon their sight.
With a gentle smile and caring laughter, loving them with all her heart and might.

An outstanding nurse of 45 years,
dedicated to her patients and the critically ill.
Mom always had those encouraging words, while holding ones hand and passing her pills.

Mom was the greatest, words really can't say.
I loved her so very much every single day.
I will miss her presence, that comforting smile, if only she was still here with us for just a little while.

So many memories I have from past days, seeing daily reminders of mom in many ways.
The journey for us will be filled with much grieving, but mom's everlasting love she will be leaving.

I wasn't ready to loose her,
my mom of 82 years.
My heart aches for her presence,
among all the fallen tears.

Love You Mom,
Cathleen

I was out running errands yesterday, the 31st and decided to call home(I usually call in the evening) My mom shared with me the news of Mrs. George's passing. I always called her Mrs. George. At that moment, so many wonderful memories came flooding back. I do not think back on my childhood with out thinking of the George family. Pat and I became life long friends and the rest well, they felt like family too! How true the statements read in the obit. Mrs. George always opened her heart and home to everyone who entered. We could laugh there, we could cry there. No matter what, we always felt comfortable there.

The years passed. Time marched on. I married. Pat moved away and married as well. It has been spoken about Mrs. George's incredible ability to bargain shop. When I gave birth to my first son Nate, I remember receiving the most adorable baby blue corduroy jump suit. Oh yes, though it seemed we were all drifting apart, Mrs. George never forgot us. Always giving and loving every minute of it. What a truly wonderful lady!

To the entire George family, may I extend my sincerest sympathy. Though I can't be there, please know my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mrs. George, may you rest in peace and forever realize how special you were to so many people.

Helen was a terrific woman and could light up a room when she walked in. I remember when I was doing my nurses' training if there was a problem she was always there to give me some advice or lend a helping hand. She'll be missed by many RIP Helen

I am truly honored to have met Helen George and to have been welcomed into her family. Justin has shared many memories of his Grandma when he was growing up. I know he will pass his memories onto Kathryn and Ella.
I also wanted to share something funny she wrote in a card to Justin and me when Ella was baptised. In the card she wrote, "Two beautiful girls, who could ask for anything more...except maybe for a handsome boy." It made us laugh.

As Erin's best friend, I have had the great privilege and honor of getting to know the special angel I knew as "Grandma" over the past 12 years. I have so many special memories of Grandma, including shopping with her for Erin's wedding dress and her own dress for the wedding, and watching her sit in her favorite chair at Erin and Matt's house watching the Yankee's games. What I cherish most, however, is that I was lucky enough to witness first-hand the immeasurable love and pride on her face when she watched Erin graduate from law school, as she sat back on the boat cruise watching Erin dance at her bridal shower, and as she witnessed Erin marry the love of her life.

There are no words to describe the impact Grandma had on Erin's life, and I know she was a blessing to all of her family and friends. I feel so grateful to have been given the opportunity to know and love Grandma, and send my deepest condolences to all who mourn this devastating loss.

Grandma will live on in all of our hearts.

My heartfelt thoughts & prayers go out to the family of Helen George. My father Harold Noonan was Helen's Uncle & GodFather. We lived in Norwood, MA & I have very nice memories of visits to the Buckley homestead in Hyde Park (Readville). Helen could really light up a room, that great smile & twinkling eyes, she just had a special way of welcoming everyone. What a kind & thoughtful woman. I'm sure she is smiling down on all of us now. We have all been blessed by her knowing her.

Love,

To Bucky's family:
Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of such a wonderful lady. I met Bucky in 1983 when I began working at MMH. She was very kind and so funny. She truly was a pleasure to work with. Bucky will be missed. May you find peace knowing that she now walks with the Lord and is reunited with so many family members.
Praying for each of you,

We will deeply miss Gramma. Growing up across the street I had come to know Helen as Gramma. Her door was always open and I loved hanging out with Erin and her eating yummy food and watching movies. Her house was always stocked with lots of snacks and at the end of the movie Gramma would say either "well that was a nice picture" or she would say "I didn't care for that picture at all". I always loved her sayings and there were many of them that I had never heard before.

She introduced me to the art of bargain shopping which I quickly realized was not my strong suit. My patience would wear thin after the first 3 or 4 hours (more like the first hour) in the same section of the store but I was always amazed not only by the deals she would find but by her keen sense of fashion. She seemed to know what I should be wearing before I did. Erin and I have gotten many compliments on clothing Gramma has bought for us over the years.

She was a lover of sports as well. If it was the Sunday of a Golf Major you could bet we would be watching and rooting for Tiger Woods. If the Yankees were playing it didn't matter if it was April or October, we would be watching. One of my favorite memories is how she would start cheering when the Yankees hit a homerun but it was the funniest when she would start cheering after watching a replay from the night before or from a previous at bat. She would yell "there goes another one!" and then she would look at us and say "that was another replay wasn't it?" We would all just laugh.

I will always have her in my heart and I will especially miss her during the holidays. I will be thinking of her on Sundays of those golf majors and whenever I see the Yankee pinstripes. I know she'll be watching with me when Tiger wins his 19th major, when the Yankees win number 27 and when A-Rod hits number 763.

Her life had an amazing effect on me. I could go on all day with stories about Gramma and I know many of us could. If you have a story please share it as we love to read/hear them. I am truly blessed to have grown up across the street from 2 of the strongest women I have ever known.

Dear New York Cuzins,

I am so sorry about the tremendous loss of your Mother.

I will always remember Aunt Helen laughing and having just such a great time at every family function.

And the best??? Aunt Helen dancing her heart out to "Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog". Boy did she love that song!

Aunt Helen just lit up a room. Her smile and her laugh were contagious. You just couldn't be in a bad mood around her. She just lifted everyone's spirit.

We will all miss her very much.

All of you will be in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time.

But Aunt Helen has been reunited with Uncle Carson and Maureen! I'm sure they welcomed her into heaven.

And she is now with Nana, Mark, Aunt Jeanne, Uncle Jimmy and my Dad ( Uncle Bill). They're probably all partying righ now and Aunt Helen is probably dancing to "Jeremiah was a Bullfrog".

She was such a warm and giving person and she will be in our hearts forever.

Love,

Cuzin Ann
