Virginia Rogers Obituary

Rogers, Virginia CASTLETON, N.Y. Virginia (Gina) Temple Rogers, 63, died Tuesday, July 1, 2008. Born in NYC and raised in North Chatham, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Robert H. Temple and Laura Virginia Douglas. After graduating from Mercy High School in Albany, N.Y., Gina married and raised a family in Castleton. For over 23 years, she owned and operated Rogers' Ski Shop and Sport Emporium in East Greenbush and Delmar, N.Y. Most recently, she divided her time between Tucson, Ariz. and Castleton. Preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Peter Edson Rogers and daughter, Christine Virginia Rogers. Gina is survived by son, Brock (Lynn) Rogers of Castleton; daughter, Sara (Doug) Little of Tucson; and her greatest loves "Nana's babies," grandchildren Madison, Jake, Brody, and Sydney. She is also survived by brother, James (Cherie) Temple; sisters, Katherine (George) Lee, Mary (Jerry) Blair, Laura Bennett, Susan Temple, Patricia (Michael) Hromalik; many nieces, nephews (who all loved "Aunt Gina"); and many, many friends. Gina showed us all how to live with grace, strength, perseverance, and most of all laughter. On July 1, 2008, Heaven became livelier as Gina surely made a grand entrance. "Because I could not stop for death, He kindly stopped for me. The carriage held but just ourselves, And immortality." -Emily Dickinson Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial at Wm. J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer, on Saturday, August 2, 2008. Calling hours 2-4 p.m. Memorial service to start at 4 p.m. A gathering to celebrate Gina's life will follow at her son's house.
