Louis First Obituary

First, Louis J. RENSSELAER Louis J. First, 77, of Rensselaer, passed away after a brief illness on Thursday August 7, 2008 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Antonio and Anna (Silotica) First. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Laborers Local 190 for over 50 years, and a member of Melvin Roads Post #1231 American Legion in East Greenbush. Louis is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Catherine (Bond) First; father of Deana First of Clifton Park, Roberta Bouck (Richard) of Rensselaer, Louann First of Maine; and step- children, Kathleen Primero, James Bond, Joseph Bond (Mabel), Sharon Roberts (Bill), Darlene George (John); and grandchildren, Gary, Krista and Gabriella. Also survived by six other grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his beloved cats, Murphy and Smoky and his dog, Sam. Predeceased by Mary, Nicola, Jennie, John, Michael, Anthony, Thomas, Pete, Angelo and Alfred First. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral 8:30 a.m., Monday from the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer and 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Historical Church, Lodge St. of Albany where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated. Friends may call in the funeral on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. The family requests that memorials in memory of Louis be made to the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, 1 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
