Stella Bobrek

Bobrek, Stella GUILDERLAND Stella (Olender) Bobrek, 90, of Guilderland, died suddenly at her residence on Thursday, August 7, 2008. Born, raised and lived most of her life in Utica, she worked in the drafting department in the print file management section of GE for 25 years prior to her retiring at age 65. Stella was an avid golfer and was a member of Valley View Golf Course, Hidden Valley Golf Club, and played with the GE Golf League and enjoyed painting and needlework. Stella was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church in Utica. After moving to Guilderland 10 years ago, she joined Christ the King Church and its emmaus group. She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Bertha (Dymarczyk) Olender, and a sister Dorothy Gilchrist. Stella was the beloved wife of the late Walter V. Bobrek and the devoted mother of Camille (John) Casey of N. Greenbush, and a son, David W. (Dora) Bobrek of Guilderland. She is also survived by a sister, Natalie Paige of New Hartford, and a brother, Joseph (Marion) Olender of E. Greenbush. She was the loving grandmother of eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Utica area relatives include nieces Mrs. Charles (Gladys) Miller, Mrs. Patricia Higgins; and nephews, Richard (Judy) Bobrek, Fred Bobrek and the late Eugene Sowinski; and special cousins Mary and Nancy Lewek and others. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Tuesday 9:00 a.m. from the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer, N.Y. and 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Westmere, N.Y., where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in Utica on Tuesday at 3 p.m. The family has requested that those who wish to remember Stella, make memorials to Christ the King Church, Holy Trinity Church in Utica, or Community Caregivers Inc., PO Box 523, Altamont, NY 12009.
