Alva H. Winne

Winne, Alva H. WILMINGTON, N.C. Alva H. Winne, age 94, entered into eternal life Thursday August 7, 2008. Born in Cohoes, she was a graduate of Cohoes High School and Albany Business College. She was employed as a chief stenographer for the NY State Department of Unemployment Insurance, retiring in 1950. Alva enjoyed playing golf with her husband and spending time with family and friends. She was a homemaker, an avid gardener and seamstress. Daughter of the late Robert and Agnes Scott Ray. Beloved wife of the late James B. Winne; loving mother of Gail Heider of Wilmington and Barbie Givens and her husband Dan of Ester, Alaska; sister of the late Harvey, Kenneth and Robert Ray; cherished grandmother of Sarah E. Lauffenburger (Tom), Eric J. Heider and Pamela C. Heider; great-grandmother of Teagan and Zachary Lauffenburger. Also survived by several nieces, nephews. Funeral services will be held in the Lasak & Gigliotti Funeral Home, 8 Dudley Heights, (Northern Blvd.), Albany, Wednesday morning at 9:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o'clock at the Church of St. Pius X, Loudonville. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Wednesday after 8:00 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
