Delbert Lansing Obituary

Lansing, Delbert J. Jr. ALBANY Delbert J. Lansing Jr., 80, entered into rest after a long illness on August 12, 2008 at St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the care of Hospice. He was the son of the late Delbert J. Lansing, Sr. and Bessie E. Lansing. After graduating from Mont Pleasant High School, he was employed by the Rutland Lumber Company for over 15 years. He also worked for Empie Mfg. Co., a Latham business which manufactured equipment for harness racing. After retirement, he worked part-time for the town of Colonie Golf Course and Hertz Rentals. He also served as a member of the New York National Guard. Delbert was a life member of the Verdoy Fire Department, served as a member of its Board of Fire Commissioners, and the Verdoy Fire Police. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, camping with his family, working in his yard, bowling, and golf. Delbert is survived by his wife, Mary; his daughter Jennifer (Kenneth) of Kennesaw, Ga.; his son, David of Colonie; his sister, Lois A. Lansing of Colonie; two grandchildren, Ryan Patrick and Ciaran James McGrath of Kennesaw; one niece, Patricia (Michael) Sanchez; and two nephews, Daniel (Lani) Lansing and Keith Lansing. He was predeceased by his brother, DeWitt. The family wished to extend its thanks to the staff of St. Peter's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and the Community Hospice for the care given him during his suffering. Friends may call at the Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State Street, Schenectady, on Friday evening, August 15 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Lisha Kill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Verdoy Fire Department, 988 Troy-Schenectady Road, Latham, NY 12110, Community Hospice, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205 or the town of Colonie Emergency Medical Services Department, 312 Wolf Road, Latham, NY 12110.
