Beulah Major

Major, Beulah BRADENTON, Fla. Beulah Fifield Major, 101, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2008 in North Port, Fla. She was born January 16, 1907, in Spier Falls, N.Y. and grew up in Mechanicville, N.Y., where her father was superintendent at the Powerhouse. She graduated from the State University of Oneonta and taught elementary education in Waterford, N.Y. for over 40 years. She retired in 1970 and divided her time between her homes in Waterford and Braden-ton, Fla. She was a devote Christian and a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. Her family was the most important thing to her and she maintained a close relationship with her sons, siblings and their families throughout her life. She is survived by son, Ronald Willetts of North Port; granddaughter, Peggy Meeham; grandson, Bruce Curtis; nephew, Dr. William Fifield; two nieces, Cynthia Sodher and Elizabeth Reed; two stepsons, John Major and James Major; and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by three husbands, Bernard Curtis, Harry Willetts and James Major; a son, Bruce Curtis; and her sisters, Muriel Lyons and Caryl Reynolds; and a brother, Kenneth Fifield. Interment will be in Prospect Cemetery, Guilderland, N.Y. In lieu of flowers or donations, HUG your family.
