To the Smith family:
I only learned today that Art had passed away. Please accept my deepest condolences. I had the pleasure of meeting him at pulmonary rehab . I looked forward to seeing him when I went. He had me by over 25 years in age, but we did enjoy some funny times there. He is in my prayers.

To Art's Family:
We had the great pleasure of knowing Art for 4 very short years. In this brief amount of time we came to love and appreciate Art for his gentle spirit and great sense of humor. He was so easy to love, and he was always the gentleman. How very blessed each one of you are - that you knew him more intimately. We'll keep all of you in our prayers, especially you Ruth. Love and God Bless,
Carl Thomas

To the family of Art Smith:
I don't know if you all will remember Art's 'army buddies', but I am one of them. Art was a very special guy and he and Fenstemacher came to see me last year. I'm so sorry to hear Art passed; I knew he wasn't well, but didn't know he was that sick. I wish I could get to the services, but my son who lives locally is on his way to Florida to take his son to college. However, I am glad that I have this opportunity to write to the family to pass along my deepest condolences.
Regards,
[sent by daughter Kathy Thomas]
