Vincent Farley Obituary

Farley, Vincent VOORHEESVILLE Vincent J. Farley Jr., 82, gently passed away at Fletcher Allen Medical Center, in Burlington, Vt., on Monday, August 25, 2008 in the presence of his wife and son. Son of Vincent and Annie Farley, he was born November 1, 1925, raised in Rensselaer, N.Y., and attended St. John's Academy. Vincent left high school early to attend the Maryknoll Missionary School in Akron, Ohio, where he completed his secondary and college education. Leaving the seminary for health reasons, he went to work at the General Aniline Company in Rensselaer, where he met and eventually married Theresa Conroy in 1952. He received an M.B.A. from Siena College in 1960. He retired from Norton Company in Watervliet as a production control planner in 1985. Predeceased by his wife, Theresa in 1965, he married Nancy Passarelli on Saint Patrick's Day in 1984 and lived in Voorheesville. Together, they made several trips to Europe and the UK, and enjoyed the idyllic setting of their summer camp at Owl's Head Harbor on Lake Champlain in Vt. Vincent pursued varied interests including bicycling, weight lifting, bird watching, piano, English equestrian riding, dance lessons, and fishing. During the last two decades of his life, he concentrated on watercolor painting and wood carving. A voracious reader, he continued to add to his voluminous personal library. Vince is survived by his wife, Nancy of Voorheesville; his son, Michael (Carol) Farley and granddaughter, Mia Farley of Delmar; four stepchildren; 11 step-granddaughters and three step-grandsons; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Much gratitude is owed to the staff at Fletcher Allen Medical Center, Burlington. Their sensitive understanding, support and counseling is greatly appreciated. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass Saturday morning at 9:30 o'clock at St. Matthew's Church, 25 Mountainview St., Voorheesville, N.Y. and may also call at the Reilly & Son Funeral Home, 9 Voorheesville Ave., Voorheesville Friday from 5 - 7 p.m.
