Dorothy Sloan Obituary

Sloan, Dorothy M. KNOX Dorothy M. Sloan, 91, of Knox, beloved wife of the late Charles E. Sloan, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Thursday, September 4, 2008 at Community Hospice Of Albany. Born in Walton, N.Y. on July 6, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Edith (Wilson) Lee. She was joined in marriage to Charles Sloan and the two shared a blessed union prior to his passing on March 30, 1994. Dorothy at one time was employed by J.C. Penney in Latham as an associate a position from which she retired from after 15 years of conscientious service She is survived by her two loving daughters, Betty (William) Clough of Knox, Carol Sloan and her husband James Harkness of Mooresville, N.C.; her cherished grandchildren, Lorinda Jensis and James Knost; as well as her great grandchildren, Brittany Jensis, Ashlee Jensis and her sister, Zola Kreiger of Latham Dorothy is predeceased by her sisters, Lillian Wendt, Madge Emigh and Marge Palmer. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 12-1 p.m. at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. A celebration of Dorothy's Life will be held on Monday at 1:00 p.m. immediately following the visitation at the funeral home. Rev. Nick Tebordo will officiate. Interment will take place in Memory's Garden, Colonie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Dorothy's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 125 Wolf Rd., Suite 225, Albany, NY 12205.
