Florence Kinney Obituary

Kinney, Florence A. RENSSELAER Florence McCormick Kinney, age 84 years, of Grandview Drive, passed away Monday, October 6, 2008 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. She was born in New York City and lived most of her life in Rensselaer. Mrs. Kinney was a homemaker and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church in Rensselaer attending St. Joseph's Church for many years. She was an avid NY Yankee baseball fan. Wife of the late Jack C. Kinney Sr.; mother of Jack C. (Hedy) Kinney Jr. of Kent, Conn., Joseph T. (Pamela) Kinney of Kinderhook, Theresa (Owen "Smokie") Johnson of Schodack and James R. (Denise) Kinney of Schodack; grandmother of Heather Poirier, Jack R. Kinney, Eric and Ashley Kinney, Jaime Richardson, Kurt and Keith Johnson, Jason, Leah and Jacklyn Kinney; sister of Rita Sanford of Rensselaer and the late Kathleen McCormick; friend of Joyce Dudek of Rensselaer; also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staffs at St. Peter's Hospital 5th floor Nolan Riddle Wing and Hospice Inn for their care, concern and support shown to our mother and us. Funeral from the W. J. Lyons Jr. Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Avenue, Rensselaer Friday morning at 9:00 and 10:00 at St. Joseph's Church, Third Street, Rensselaer where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205. Condolence page at wjlyonsfuneralhome.com

Jack, Joe, Theresa and Jim, I have so many fond memories of the days a long time ago when we were kids on Second Street. My Mom and Flo were such good friends and I have a photo on your living room sofa of myself with Tommy and Bobby Sanford. Those were the days. I remember so clearly when your Mom broke her ankle.
