Joseph Kennedy Obituary

Kennedy, Joseph "Carl" COHOES Joseph "Carl" Kennedy, 84, of Andrew Lane, Cohoes, died Sunday, October 12, 2008 at the Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy after a short illness. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary Agnes Maney Kennedy. A life long resident of Cohoes, he graduated from La Salle Institute in Troy, Siena College and Brooklyn Law School. He retired as a claims supervisor for Travelers Insurance Company in Colonie in 1986 after 30 years of service. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Okinawa during World War II, and then he attended Officers Candidate School and retired as a 1st Lt. after 20 years of service in the Army Reserve. He is survived by his wife, Grace Reily Kennedy and was husband of the late Ethel Keoughan Kennedy; he is also survived by his children, Mark F. Kennedy of Cohoes, Joseph Carl and his wife Lori Kennedy Jr. of Aurora, Colo., Kathleen and her husband Robert Freeman of Cohoes, John M. and his wife Carol Kennedy of Schenectady and Mary E. and her husband Wendell Parsons of Schenectady; and his five grandchildren, Jason, Brittney, Triston, Nicholas and Colin. He is also survived by three great-grandchildren and two brothers, John F. Kennedy and Robert Kennedy, both of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. Stepfather of Paula Reily, Robin Ferris, Leslie Scully and Kayle Pucci and he is also survived by several step-grandchildren. Funeral from the Stanton-Farrell Funeral Home, 326 Columbia St., Cohoes, Wednesday morning at 8:30 and at Holy Trinity Parish, Vliet Blvd. at 9 o'clock where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated. His interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
