Jenny Hicks Obituary

Hicks, Jenny T. NORTH GREENBUSH Jenny T. (Romanowsky) Hicks, 87, formerly of Rensselaer, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008 at Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born in Rensselaer, Jenny was a receptionist and telephone operator for Sterling Winthrop for over 30 years prior to her retiring in 1983. She loved gardening, walking the beaches of Cape Cod, reading, and crossword puzzles. She was a volunteer worker at Albany Memorial Hospital and a communicant of Church of St. Mary at Clinton Heights for many years. Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Stella Uss Romanowsky; her husband, Ray W. Hicks; her son, Robert W. Hicks; sisters, Mary Kephart, Anne Novak and Helen Cooper; a brother, Tony Romanowsky. Jenny is survived by her daughter, Patricia Anne (Neysa Sabotino) Hicks of Averill Park, Diane M. Male of East Greenbush; her daughter-in-law, Joy Hicks. Also grandchildren, Bobby (Jill), Jimmy (Alysia) and Rachel Applebee, Paul (Debbie) Sabatino; great-grandchildren, Abbigal, Melanie, Alec, Robie, Tyler, James Hicks, Nicholas and Matthew Sabatino and Chris Stead and Sabrina Applebee; and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Rockefeller Funeral Home, 165 Columbia Tpk., Rensselaer, N.Y. Friends may call in the funeral home from 10-1 prior to the service. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, East Greenbush, N.Y. The family has requested that those who wish to remember Jenny make memorial contributions to Special Care Unit B-1, Van Rensselaer Manor, Bloomingrove Dr., Troy, NY 12180 or the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, 1 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in her memory.

We were so sorry to hear about Jenny. She was a WONDERFUL lady and was a great asset to Albany Memorial Hospital. When she left the hospital in 2000, she had donated over 3600 hours! She will be missed greatly.
