Eva McGovern Obituary

McGovern, Eva (Marthy) ALBANY Eva A. Marthy McGovern, 92, died Sunday, October 19, 2008 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center after a protracted illness. She was born in Hungary and came to this country at the age of five. She lived in Flushing, N.Y. and E. Greenwich, R.I. for most of her life, coming to Albany in 1995. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Julia Dudutz Marthy; wife of the late Dana E. McGovern; mother of Sharon McGovern of Los Angeles, Calif., William McGovern of Kan. and the late Dana E. McGovern Jr.; sister of George L. Marthy MD and the late Francis G. Marthy; grandmother of William McGovern and Grace Ann McGovern; great-grandmother of Mark. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at the chapel at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Latham, N.Y., Friday morning at 10:00. Interment to take place in St. Patrick's Cemetery, E. Greenwich, R.I. Arrangements under direction of the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 N. Allen St., Albany, NY 12206.

Dear Sharon and Bill,
Wow, does this take us back a few years! I hope your Mom was comfortable for these last few decades since we have visited. I well remember how warmly she always greeted us when stomping in that basement door; even when covered in snow. Send your email.
