Dr. Ramirez and Dr. Trupia, always eloquent, about summed it up. Bob was always professional and also on the personal side a kind friend. His gift of knowledge that she shared with all the teachers, students, colleagues, and friends throughout the State and the country are a lasting tribute given unselfishly by a really terrific person.

We were very sad when we heard that Bob passed away. We first met him in 1990 when he visited us here in Germany. In 2005 we visited him and Joan in Voorheesville where both of them showed us a lot of places in the area. We will miss him and his interesting letters he wrote to us. Joan, we wish you all the best !

Bob was devoted to enriching the lives of others through the world of books and technology. Many librarians, teachers and students benefited greatly from his commitment and expertise. It was a joy to work with such a consummate professional and kind person. In his quiet way, Bob fought for and successfully advocated for school library systems throughout New York State and our nation. I am honored to have been one of his colleagues. I thank the Barron family for sharing him with us at the State Education Department for so many years. May he rest in peace.
