Reid, Mary E. RANDOLPH, Vt. Mary E. Reid, 94, formerly of Albany and Watervliet, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at Mayo Healthcare in Northfield, Vt. following a brief illness. She was the widow of Alfred T. Reid. Born and educated in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late James E. and Catherine Jennings Jackson. A graduate of Cohoes High School and Troy Business College, she was a secretary at the Troy Business College, and later, secretary to the vice president at the John A. Manning Paper Company in Green Island. During the period when the family resided in Las Vegas, Nev., Mrs. Reid was a secretary to the commander of the U.S. Air Force Fighter Weapons School, Nellis Air Force Base, in Las Vegas. After returning to the Albany area in 1956, she was the secretary to the director of the Benet Weapons Laboratory at the Watervliet Arsenal. She retired from the Arsenal in 1982 after 26 years of service. Mrs. Reid was a member of the Jermain Memorial Presbyterian Church, Watervliet, AARP, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the 20-Year Club of the Watervliet Arsenal, and the Watervliet Senior Citizens Center. Survivors include her son, Bruce D. Reid and his wife Penni of Rochester, Vt.; her daughter, Alison Sherwood and her husband Barry of Belle River, Ontario; five grandchildren, Kelly Taylor of Conway, N.H., Suzanne Reid of Portland, Maine, Megan, Jennell and Michael Sherwood of Belle River; a sister, Hilda Appio of Schenectady; a brother, James E. Jackson of Cohoes; and a nephew, Phillip A. Howard of Concord, N.H. She was predeceased by her sister, Ethel Howard. Funeral service at the Bowen Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham on Saturday at 11 a.m. with interment to follow in the Albany Rural Cemetery, Colonie.
