Virginia Monroe Obituary

MONROE Virginia S. Virginia S. Monroe, 85, of Boynton Beach, Fla., passed away on April 11, 2007 after a long illness. She was always proud to say that she was a member of the H.B. Kuhn Senior Center in Colonie, N.Y., where she resided prior to moving to Fla. in 2001. Along with her predeceased husband EJ, Virginia formed the very successful E.J. Monroe Heating and Pluming Company in upstate N.Y. Soon after, she worked for Martin Business Furniture as their senior accountant for many years. After leaving the furniture business, Virginia purchased the Bird Cage restaurant in Saratoga, which drew a lot of clientele from the Saratoga Race Track where she met people from all over the world and perhaps unknowingly had the finest times of her life. Her final employment was for the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation where she was considered the senior accountant until retiring in 1986 due to health reasons. Virginia leaves behind her cousins, Robert Harris, Charles Harris, David Harris and Cindy Chen; her beloved friend, Dawn Shafer; and her beloved friends and care givers, Joanne Slocum and Candace Ashdown. A memorial service will be held in the View Land Cemetery at the corner of Princetown and Putnam Roads in Rotterdam, N.Y. at 1:00 in the afternoon on Saturday, October 20. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay their respects.
