Virginia L. Porter

Porter, Virginia L. NORTHVILLE, N.Y. Mrs. Virginia L. Porter, 64, of Northville, passed away October 21, 2007 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Born on December 24, 1942, in Albany, N.Y., she was the daughter of Kenneth and Elizabeth vanOostenbrugge Gonyea. Virginia was a lifelong area resident and attended local schools. She was employed with the New York State Office of General Services for many years until her retirement. Virginia enjoyed gardening, crafts, quilting, crocheting, and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her husband, Howard Porter whom she married in 1982; her daughter, Virginia L. (Timothy) Hays of Saratoga; four stepchildren, Sandra (Daniel) Gonyea of Berne, N.Y., Mark (Linda Davis) Porter, Kathi (George) Dorvee, and Lisa (Michael) Dorvee, all of Ballston Spa; brother, William (Loretta) Gonyea of Selkirk, N.Y.; sister, Nancy (David) Byerwalters of Albany; two grandchildren, Danielle and Erik Dybowski; eight step-grandchildren, Jordan and Mariah Gonyea, Liesel, Elizabeth, and George Dorvee, Brianne Feeney, and Sarah and Chase Dorvee; several nieces, nephews; and a dear and devoted friend, Ellen Relation of Albany. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at The White Funeral Home, 264 N. Ballston Ave., Scotia, N.Y. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
