Arthur Larsen Obituary

Larsen, Arthur J. GREENVILLE, N.Y. Arthur J. Larsen, 84, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2007 after a long illness. Arthur was born November 6, 1922 in College Point, Queens, N.Y. He was the son of Anna Bergmann and Lawrence E. Larsen. Arthur was a disabled Army veteran of World War II, serving as PFC with company C of the 137th infantry. On D-Day he participated in the battle at Utah Beach, France and received the European African Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon and the bronze star. After being discharged he moved to Virginia and ran a large farm for many years. He then moved to Spring Hill, Fla. and worked until he retired from Disney's Weeki Wachee Springs. He moved back to N.Y. in 1991. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Larsen and many family members; Edward (Susan) Lar-sen, Judith (John) Tonna, Cheryl (Peter) Sherwin, Bruce (Ade-laide) Larsen, and Brian (Deborah) Larsen; a sister, Elaine (William) Hempel; daughter, Bonnie from Oregon; a niece, Dorothy (John) Connelly; a nephew, Kenneth (Lillian) Thompson; also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Arthur got great pleasure being part of a large family. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward L. Larsen and a sister, Eleanor Thompson. Calling hours will be at the Fredendall Funeral Home, Alta-mont on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 from 5-7 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, Berne on Thursday at 11 a.m. For those who wish, contributions in Arthur's memory may be made to the Greenville Rescue Squad, PO Box 332, Greenville, NY 12083.
