John Fan Obituary

Fan, John MECHANICVILLE John Fan (Fong Ming Kong), 72, of Hudson River Rd., beloved husband of Laurien Babcock Fan of Mechanicville, died on Friday, October 26, 2007 at Albany Medical Center Hospital in Albany. Born Fong Ming Kong on January 23, 1935 in Shanghai, China, he was the son of Ting Pang Fong of Fremont, Calif. and the late Ching Shin Ku. He earned his high school and associate's degrees in Taipai, Taiwan and served in the Taiwanese Air Force. Prior to becoming a U.S. citizen, he was naturalized in Ireland. Mr. Fan was an HVAC contractor, serving as president and chief operator of F.M. Kong, Inc. in Mechanicville. He was a member of the United Association of Pipefitters, Local 105 and the Northeastern Subcontractors Association. Beloved husband of over 30 years of Laurien; devoted father of Kim Fan of Waterford; step-father of Sean T. Ward of Hillsborough, Calif. and Shannon T. Vinehout of Altamont; brother of Nancy Wang of Haworth, N.J., Rocky Fong of San Jose, Calif., Ruth Hsu of San Jose, Calif., Tom Fong of Fremont, Calif. and Margaret Tse of Colonie; grandfather of Joseph and Jeremy Fan of Waterford; and step-grandfather of Seamus and Savannah Ward, both of Hillsborough, Calif. and Devin and Meghan Vinehout, both of Altamont; also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 3:00 at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route Nine in Clifton Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 2 to 5.
