Leonard Drooz Obituary

Drooz, Leonard E. JUPITER, Fla. Leonard E. Drooz, age 92, of Mangrove Bay Way in Jupiter, died on Monday, October 29, 2007 at the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Mr. Drooz was born in Albany and resided in Schenectady for most of his life until retiring to Fla. He attended Albany High School and was the founder and president of Leonard Communications in Schenectady. He was a member and former president of Congregation Agudat Achim in Schenectady where he served a three-year term. He also served as treasurer of the congregation for a year. He was 32nd Degree Mason and had been potentate of the Oriental Temple of Troy in 1972. He was past president of the Schenectady Shrine Club and a 50-year member of Scottish Rites. He had also been president of the New York-Ontario Shrine Association. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marjorie Cramer Drooz; beloved father of Ann Pearson and her husband Gary of Stoughton, Mass. and Delray Beach, Fla. and Sandy Bell and her husband Dr. Samuel Bell of Niskayuna, N.Y.; grandfather of Shari (James) Shapiro of Easton, Mass., Alan (Cindy) Bell of Niskayuna, and Brian (Melissa) Bell of Stoughton; great- grandfather of Justin Shapiro, Braden Shapiro, Abby Bell and Jordan Bell. Leonard was predeceased by his sister, Muriel Sussman and his brother-in-law, Bernard Sussman. Services at Congregation Agudat Achim, 2117 Union Street, Schenectady, on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Agudat Achim Cemetery in Rotterdam, N.Y. A Masonic funeral service will be held at Congregation Agudat Achim at 1:30 p.m. The period of mourning will be observed at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Samuel Bell, 1510 Wheatly Court in Niskayuna on Thursday, Saturday evening and Sunday with a minyan service being held at the house on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Agudat Achim or the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
