James Doran Obituary

Doran, James H. ALBANY James H. Doran, 87, died Sunday, October 28, 2007 at the VA Medical Center. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late William and Mary Ginter Doran. Mr. Doran was a graduate of Vincentian Institute, attended Siena College, and graduated from Albany Law School. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the European Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received during the battle at Anzio Beach. Mr. Doran practiced law in Albany for nearly 40 years. In 2002 he was awarded the degree of Juris Doctor by Albany Law School, and in 2006 successively argued a pro bono case in front of the State of New York Appellate Division. He was an avid golfer, and member of the Pine Haven Country Club. Mr. Doran retired to Florida in 1984, returning upon the death of his dear wife, Florence Kayfus Doran, in March 2006. He was the father of Katherine A. Doran (Edward Fondiller) of Brooklyn, James Doran of Rochester, Carol Doran Klein (Kenneth) of McLean, Va., and William Doran (Roseann) of Broad-albin, N.Y.; grandfather of Paul, Emily, Jacqueline, Gabrielle, Thomas, Joseph, Jennifer, Meaghan, David and Andrew. Funeral services Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany thence to the Infant of Prague Chapel at Teresian House at 11:00 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Thursday, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow the Mass in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
