Victor J. Gulewicz Sr.

Gulewicz, Victor J. Sr. WATERFORD Victor J. Gulewicz Sr., 83, of Lea Ave., died Monday, November 5, 2007 at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Watervliet, he was the son of the late Michael and Laura Mazurek Gulewicz and was a 1941 graduate of Watervliet High School. Vic was employed for 38 years at AL Tech Specialty Steel Corp, formerly Allegheny Ludlum Steel, in Watervliet. More recently, he was employed on a part time basis at Sam's Club in Latham. He was a veteran of the US Army and served in World War II in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of the Watervliet Lodge of Elks. A sports enthusiast, Vic was an avid bowler and had played baseball in his younger years. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Waterford. He was husband of the late Claire Grose Gulewicz who died in 2000. He is survived by his children, Laura Kelly of Toronto, Calif. and Victor J. Gulewicz Jr. of Manalapan, N.J. and his granddaughter, Kara Gulewicz. Also surviving is a dear friend of Vic and his family, Maureen McGinis of Troy. The Gulewicz family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to the doctors and nurses at St. Peter's Hospital for the compassionate care given to Vic. Funeral services will be Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rt. 32), Waterford and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home office.
