Kathleen Adair Obituary

Adair, Kathleen Lyon BURNT HILLS, N.Y. Kathleen Lyon Adair, 86, of Kingsley Road, died peacefully at her home which was her wish made possible by her youngest son Shawn Adair and grandson Rory Adair. Both Shawn and Rory lived with and cared for Kathleen at home. Kathleen was born in Schenec-tady, daughter to Guy and Harriott Baker Lyon, graduating Burnt Hills Ballston Lake Central School in 1939. She was a 1942 graduate RN from Samaritan Hospital in Troy and a second lieutenant during World War II, serving her country as an Army nurse stationed in England and France. She was married to Joseph E. Adair and lived in Burnt Hills for many years, raising her family. A devoted wife and mother, she also worked at Steven's Elementary School in the library and rode as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Ballston Lake Rescue Squad. Her husband Joe died on December 6, 1994. Kathleen is survived by three sons, Kevin Adair and his wife Anita, Shawn Adair of Burnt Hills, and Timothy Adair and his wife Anne Kaarina of Schodak; three daughters, Kathleen Elbrecht and husband James of Niskayuna, Christina Buehrle and husband Jeffrey of Ohio and Colleen Adair of Burnt Hills; her sisters, Shirley Ettinger of Ft. Myers, Fla. and Patricia Garrow of Plattsburgh, N.Y; thirteen grandchildren and her great granddaughter, Emma Kathleen Adair. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 14, at 7 p.m. at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd. East Glenville with Susan Koehler, hospice chaplain officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may also call on the family Wednesday from 5:30 - 7 p.m. Private interment with military honors will take place at Memory's Garden, Colonie N.Y. In lieu of flowers, it was Kathleen's preference donations be made to either Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St., Schenectady, NY 12308 or to the Ballston Lake Rescue Squad, Route 146 A Ballston Lake, NY 12019.
