Oralee Leahey Obituary

Leahey, Oralee SCHENECTADY Oralee Janet Leahey, 82, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady. Born in Flushing, Queens on Valentine's Day 1925, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Florence (Keifer) Remmert. Her family moved to Kingston when she was still a child. She lived there until she left home for Bryn Mawr College in Pa. Oralee moved to the Albany area in 1947 after marrying William A. Leahey who predeceased her in 1985. Oralee's favorite roles were that of mother and grandmother. She was also an avid gardener, and an extensive traveler, going on wonderful vacations with her family. Dinner and movies on Friday nights with her friends was very dear to her and something she rarely missed. She is survived by her daughters, Janet (George) Daniels of Deland, Fla., Mary (Peter) Pamkowski of Colonie and Eileen (William) Griffin of Niskayuna; her grandchildren, Amy and Julie Pamkowski, Will and Evan Griffin and step-grandchildren, Maureen, Tracy and Scott Daniels. Her sister, Nancy Bailey predeceased her. The funeral service will be held Friday at 12:00 noon at New Comer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155 south of Central Ave). Calling hours will precede the service Friday from 10:00 to 12:00. Interment will be in Memory's Garden Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center, 1101 Nott St., Schenectady, NY 12308 or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 6 Greenwood Ave., East Greenbush, NY 12061.
