Edward Ausfeldt Obituary

Ausfeldt, Edward R. ROTTERDAM Edward R. Ausfeldt, 82, passed away at home on November 19, 2007 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Scotia, N.Y. on August 9, 1925, he was the son of the late John and Rose Ausfeldt. He was educated in local schools. Edward served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. Upon his return to civilian life, he began his career with the General Electric Company as a welder in the large turbine steam division until he retired in 1978. Upon his retirement, Ed set out to enjoy the rest of his life in the company of his family, traveling, dining, playing his music and bird watching. Above all, Edward was a good family man who was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Kathryn Ausfeldt in 2003 and a son, David P. Ausfeldt in 1977. He is survived by his beloved companion Maria Ulirsch; and four children, Michael E. Ausfeldt of Albany, Kathy Parks and her husband Robert of Schenectady, Joyce Ausfeldt of Schenectady and Sheryl Vitch of Schoharie. Edward also leaves behind four treasured grandchildren, Garret A. Ausfeldt of Buffalo, Steven A. Ausfeldt to Calif., Brian D. Ausfeldt of Clifton Park and currently serving in Iraq and Justin Parks of Schenectady; and his sister, Loretta Capello of Scotia. Anyone touched by his love and friendship are welcome to join us at the DeMarco Stone Funeral Home Inc., 1605 Helderberg Ave., Rotterdam on Friday, November 23, 2007 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Immediately following, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Church, Hamburg Street, Rotterdam. Interment will follow in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Troy-Schenectady Rd., Niskayuna. Memorial donations may be made to the Schenectady Community Hospice, 1411 McClellan Street, Schenectady, NY 12308.
