Paul Rukwid Obituary

Rukwid, Paul D. Sr. ELSMERE Paul D. "Pooky" Rukwid Sr., 75, died Sunday, November 25, 2007 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany and graduate of Bethlehem Central High School, he was the son of the late Edmund J. and Hilda Dascher Rukwid Sr. Mr. Rukwid was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War having served as a corporal in the military police. Mr. Rukwid worked for the New York Telephone Company (Lucent) as installer/repairman for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a life member of the Elsmere Fire Department and member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Mr. Rukwid was an avid sports enthusiast and in particular a fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR. Beloved husband of 48 years of Constance (Curnin) Rukwid; father of Paul D. (Toni) Rukwid Jr. of Albany, Scott T. Rukwid of Elkton, Va., Heidi (Michael) Rukwid Monti of Colonie, Mark C. Rukwid of Elsmere and Glenn M. Rukwid of Vashon Island, Wash.; grandfather of Tasho and Cedar Rukwid and Michael Monti Jr.; brother of the late Edmund J. Rukwid Jr. and Marcia Rukwid Birr; uncle of Cheryl Dennin and Christopher T. Birr. Funeral services 10 a.m. Thursday in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Norman E. Dascher Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., Albany, Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Burial in St. Matthew Lutheran Cemetery, Glenmont. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 85 Elm Ave., Delmar, NY 12054 or Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
