Nelson Carpenter Obituary

Carpenter, Nelson J. TROY Nelson J. Carpenter, 82, of Lansingburgh, died on November 29, 2007 at the Albany Medical Center after a short illness. Born in Pittstown, he was the son of the late Merritt and Mildred Hunter Carpenter and the devoted husband of Elizabeth Connolly Carpenter of Lansing-burgh. Mr. Carpenter was a retired machinist for the Watervliet Arsenal with 34 years of service. He was a member of the 20/20 Club at the Arsenal, enjoyed attending dinners at the United Methodist Church in Pittstown and was a member of St. Augustine's Church in Lansingburgh. Survivors in addition to his wife include sons, Merritt Carpenter and his wife Lynne of Ballston Spa and John Carpenter of Lansingburgh; daughters, Jean Carpenter of Lansingburgh and Joan Ceas and husband Arthur of Delmar; grandchildren, Arthur Ceas Jr. and Jennifer Ceas of Delmar and Paige Carpenter of Ballston Spa; brother, Neil Carpenter of Troy and sisters, Marjorie Werger of West Sand Lake and Martha Ducott of Conway, N.H. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. from St. Augustine's Church where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Troy. Friends are invited and may call at the Frank P. McDonald & Son Funeral Home, 870 Second Avenue (124th & 125th Streets) in Lansingburgh on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.
