Anne C. Griffin

Griffin, Anne C. WATERVLIET Anne Cozzolino Griffin, 82, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Ellis Residential & Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady. Born in Ravena on January 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Angeline Capatano Cozzolino. Mrs. Griffin was raised and educated in Albany and was a graduate of SUNY Albany and Siena College, where she received her master's degree in education. She was employed by the NYS Education Department in Albany where she helped make up state exams. She later was a homemaker raising her son. She returned to work and was employed by the Watervliet City School District as a private tutor and also by St. Patrick's Grammar School in Watervliet as a substitute teacher. She was a communicant of St. Patrick's Church in Watervliet, a member of the Watervliet Senior Citizens and was a past president of the Watervliet Columbiettes. She served as the backup librarian for the Watervliet Public Library and was president of the Friends of the Watervliet Library. She was a woman of strong faith, an educator who enjoyed reading, an excellent cook and loved being with her two grandsons. The family would like to thank those who were there for Anne especially the Ellis Center, her dear friends, Gina Hayner and family, Fran Cerri, her health care aide, Marguerite Lindheimer and Marilyn Angelo. She was the wife of the late William J. Griffin, who died in 1987; beloved mother of William J. Griffin and his wife Eileen of Niskayuna; proud grandmother of Will and Evan Griffin; sister of Rose (Nicholas) Elacqua and Bert Cozzolino both of Albany and the late Sam and Tony Cozzolino, Theresa and Mary Elacqua and Frances Romano. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, Watervliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment, St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watervliet. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. Contributions may be made to either the Watervliet Library or the Watervliet Senior Citizens Center, 1501 Broadway, Water-vliet, NY 12189.
