William Blanchet Obituary

Blanchet, William J. COEYMANS William (Billy) J. Blanchet, 52, died Sunday, December 2, 2007 at the Inn of Community Hospice at St. Peters Hospital. Billy was born in Albany where he remained a lifelong resident. He graduated from Guilder-land High School in 1975. Billy worked for Painters Local 201 until his retirement. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and shared his passion for these sports with his son, Drew. Billy was widely known as the most stubborn man around but he was much loved. He is predeceased by his mother, Annette and his sister, Cathy Phelan. He is survived by his daughter, Annette Kissel (Ziggy) Mackellar of Wash.; his son, Andrew Blanchet and Andrew's mother, Colleen Gray of Slingerlands; two grandchildren, Kai and Phelan. He is the brother of Mary (Wayne) Bouck, and Pamela Evely, both of Guilderland. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. Billy was a close friend of the Vivenzio family and companion of Mardy Schufelt. Funeral services will be Wednesday morning at 8:15 at NewComer-Cannon Family Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd. Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.) then to St. Margaret Mary Church, Albany at 9:00 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont. To leave a special message for the family online, visit NewcomerFamily.com

Our deepest condolences. Billy was a great guy. My husband would go hunting with Billy and they always had a great time. Sharon and I grew up with Billy and he always made us laugh. He's in God's hands now and he will make him new again. He's resting in peace now.

What can one say when someone you have known your whole life passes away? My sincerest condolences go out to Annette and Drew as well as all of his family. Billy was one of a kind and will never be forgotten. Bill, you no longer have to be stubborn. Watch over your kids and family. You will always have a special place in my memories.
