Alva "Alvie" Dovidio

Dovidio, Alva "Alvie" WYNANTSKILL Alva "Alvie" Fortino Dovidio, age 90, beloved wife of Rocco P. Dovidio, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 3, 2007 at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center, Guilderland. Born on October 14, 1917 in Glasco, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Santo and Chiarina Mazzuca Fortino. She attended Glasco schools and was a seamstress for Tiny Town Togs in Troy for 20 years, retiring in 1979. She was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church, Wynantskill for over 53 years. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dovidio is survived by her two loving daughters, Sr. Elizabeth Dovidio R.S.M. of Albany and Catherine F. Dovidio Lake of Colonie; a beloved grandson, Daniel P. Lake of Colonie; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Emily Bonomo and two brothers, Edward and Frank Fortino. Alva's family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at McAuley Residence, Our Lady of Mercy Life Center-Rosary Unit and Community Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care. The funeral will be from the Thomas S. Connolly Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Rd., Wynantskill on Friday at 9:15 a.m. and at 10 a.m. from St. Jude the Apostle Church, Wynantskill where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Salvatore Rodino, pastor. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Rensselaer. Calling hours will be at the funeral home today from 4 to 7 p.m. Contributions to the Alva F. Dovidio Memorial Fund, McAuley Residence, 308 South Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208 in memory of Mrs. Dovidio would be appreciated.
