Pupon Kundze (as she always was to me) was so welcoming and friendly whenever I saw her...from the time I was a little girl to the admittedly rare occasions that I would attend church as an adult. When I think of any Latvian functions in Albany, I think of her.

I won't be able to make it up to Albany for the calling hours, but please accept my deepest sympathy. Where can I make a donation in her name -- I would assume the Church but let me know. I talked to my sister, Sandra, and she is going to try to attend the wake. She was fond of Pupon kundze as well.

It's so painful to keep losing these people that are the great, strong link to our personal histories and Latvian legacies. Theirs are the stories I tell when someone asks me about my background. I try to remember everything about them so that I can keep that history alive for my sisters' children.
