Stephen Janis Obituary

Janis, Stephen W. BALLSTON LAKE Stephen W. Janis, 46, of Huntington Parkway, entered into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Stephen was born in Cohoes, N.Y. on July 15, 1961, the son of William and Madeline Keefe Janis. He was a graduate of Shen-endehowa High School and Canton Technical College. He also attended Siena College for marketing. Stephen was employed as vice president of sales and marketing for 25 years for Ruch Distributors Inc. in Albany. He was a member of the prestigious Wholesaler Advisory Committee for Anheuser Busch, a member of the NYS Beer Wholesalers Association and the Muscular Dystrophy Association, where he was also a committee member. Stephen was also the commissioner and avid fan of the fantasy baseball and basketball rotisserie leagues. He was a very devoted husband and father; he coached his son Benjamin's Plainsmen Football team and his daughter Lindsey's A.A.U. Basketball Association team and was very supportive in his daughter Haleigh's basketball playing. Stephen was a member of St. Mary's Church in Ballston Spa. In addition to his parents, survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Sheila Scheels Janis whom he married on October 22, 1988; his loving children, son, Benjamin, and daughters Lindsey and Haleigh Janis; four dear brothers, Daniel, James, Jason, Vincent Janis and dear sister Julie Kopyc; loving father and mother-in-law James and Phylis Wikoff; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2007 at the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home, 1550 Route 9, Clifton Park. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waterford. Memorial contributions in Stephen's memory may be made to the Stephen Janis Family Trust Fund, c/o Jeffrey Benson, at Difabio and Van Zandt, 4 Automation Lane, Albany, NY 12205.
