Helen Kramer Obituary

Kramer, Helen D. CLIFTON PARK Miss Helene D. Kramer, 92, of Ashdown Rd., died peacefully from natural causes December 7, 2007. Helene was born in Clifton Park, a beloved daughter to the late Otto and Wilhemina Bodenstab Kramer. She attended BH-BL Central, a member of the girl's varsity basketball and volleyball teams, graduating in 1934. Helene received her B.A. from Cortland Normal Teachers College and her master's in teaching from SUNY at Albany. Miss Kramer was a primary education teacher at Steven's Elementary School for 37 years. Her enjoyment included trips to York Beach, Maine during the summer, gardening and enjoying nature in the outdoors. Helene was an avid sewer and loved sports throughout her life. She was devoted to her family and took care of an ill mother for many years and decided not to marry though several gentlemen suitors came close. Helene was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Schenectady and a leader at the church's Mary Circle. Miss Kramer was a member of the BH-BL Professional Educators, Ballston Spa Retired Teachers, BH-BL Golden Grads of the 30s, NYS Retired Teachers and life member of the PTA for BH-BL. Helene was a member of the Women's Club of Burnt Hills and truly looked forward to dinners and ice cream socials with fellow classmates over the years. She retired from teaching formerly in 1977. Helene let it be known she was proud to be a lifelong Clifton Park resident. She will be remembered as a special aunt and devoted friend. She will be missed by all who knew her. Helene was predeceased by her brother, Frederick Kramer, and sister, Elsie Nielsen. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Winifred M. Kramer of Clifton Park; her nephew, Frederick L. Kramer of Cameron, N.C.; niece, Sheryl Kramer Rifenburg of Brunswick, N.Y.; great-nieces and nephews, Steven and Shawn Kramer, Kristen and Steven Butler, Julie and Kenneth Rifenburg, great-great-nephew, Daniel Butler. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 152 Nott Terrace, Schenectady. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend and may also call at the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., East Glenville Monday 3-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in memory of Helene Dorothea Kramer to the church, 152 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY 12305.
