Robert Daily Obituary

Daily, Robert F. KANSAS CITY Robert F. Daily, 81, formerly of Overland Drive in Kansas City, Mo., passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at Carmel Hills Health and Reha-bilitation Center in Indepen-dence, Mo., where he lived since March of 2006. Robert was born May 30, 1926 in Clay Center, Kan. to Francis Vernon and Mary Elizabeth Daily. He had lived in the Kansas City area most of his life, graduating from Bishop Ward High School in 1944. He enlisted in the US Army Air Corps while still at Bishop Ward, and upon graduation, went to work for Trans World Airlines. In November 1944, he was called to active duty. Following initial training, he served his country as an aerial engineer with the "Brass Hat" squadron stationed at Bolling Field in Washington, DC, until his honorable discharge in April of 1947. He often spoke with great pride of this unit's mission to provide transportation for senior military and scientific personnel as well as senior officials from the legislative and executive branches of government. Following his military service, he studied aircraft maintenance engineering at California State Polytechnic University in San Louis Obispo, Calif. He received additional training at the Spartan Aviation School in Oklahoma, where he met his wife of 42 years, Elsa Cermak Daily who predeceased him in 1993. Robert retired from T.W.A. after 41 years of service in 1985 as a Hangar Bay Manager. In 1983, Robert was recognized as a high achiever during graduation ceremonies at Central Missouri State University's School of Aviation. Survivors include his son, Charles R. Daily of Clifton Park, N.Y.; a brother, Charles Patrick Daily of Kansas City, Mo.; four sisters, Rosanna Prestia, LaVone Scott, both of Mission, Kan., Mary Mueller of Kansas City, Mo., and Theresa Pemberton of Liberty, Mo.; and many nephews and nieces. Robert wished to express special and heartfelt appreciation to the Mueller families for their dedication and assistance as he faced his Alzhiemer's with dignity and hope. The family also wishes to express their gratitude and appreciation to all the staff and volunteers at Carmel Hills for their kindness, warmth and professionalism during Robert's stay there. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 10 at St. Therese Catholic Church in Parkville, Mo. Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Hope, at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, Mo. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 9 at Heritage Funeral Home, 401 Main St., Parkville, Mo., where the rosary will be said at 3:30 p.m. The family requests that any contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

I met Robert F. at a Daily reunion in Darrouzett,Texas. He was hoping to be able to attend another one, but that did not work out. My prayers are for the family.

Charlie, very sorry to hear of your father's passing. Uncle Bob, was my Godfather and I always looked forward to his arrival at holiday celebrations. With his cigar cocked in the corner of his mouth he always greeted me with his ususal "Katarene....Elizabeth!"

My mother, Rosanna, is now living with my husband, Ed, and I in St. George, KS since dad died last October.
