Clark Alden Obituary

Alden, Clark W. ALBANY Clark W. Alden, Albany, N.Y., died unexpectedly on September 5, 2008. He was born in and lived most of his life in Albany. Clark also spent many happy years as a resident of Florida. He was a graduate of both Albany High School and Hudson Valley Community College. As a young man, Clark served in the US Naval Reserve. He was a retiree of the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation and the US Railroad. In his later years, Clark worked as a pari-mutuel teller for the NYRA Saratoga Race Track and the Saratoga Harness Track. He enjoyed and excelled in many sports and loved to travel. Clark was known for his witty aphorisms and seemed to be able to find a saying that fit any circumstance. He generously supported numerous charities and was a longtime Red Cross volunteer. Clark is survived by many family members and dear friends. Although there will be no formal memorial services, several private celebrations of his life have been planned. In honor of Clark's lifelong love of animals, memorial contributions can be made to his two favorite charities: New Beginnings E.P., Inc., 389 County Route 361, Rensselaerville, NY 12147-2615; (518) 797-3771 (Race Horse Rescue) newbeginningsequine-placement.org or Columbia Greene Humane Society Mohawk Menands, 125 Humane Society Rd., Hudson, NY 12534; (518) 828-6044 www.cghs.org
