McIver Brooks Obituary

BROOKS McIver Brooks, Jr. was born 8/5/21 in Wilmington, NC to Lossie Melton and McIver Brooks, Sr. Mac served 3 years in the Army Air Corps partly in Italy and discharged on 11/12/45. He graduated from New Hanover H.S. in 1939, UNC Chapel Hill in 1950 and from UNF with an MBA and certificate of merit in 1978. He is survived by his wife Jean and 2 daughters Alison McCauley (Michael) and Lisa Macke (Thomas); 10 grandchildren Clayton McCauley (Nandini), Sydney Glazener (Patrick) and Frank McCauley, Charles and Channing Bernreuter, Kirsten Griffin (Josh), Brooke, Michelle, Blake and Christopher Macke; 3 great grandchildren Emma and Lauren Glazener and Lela McCauley; 1 niece and 1 nephew. He was predeceased by his oldest daughter Andrea Bernreuter, his parents and 4 sisters. Mac was a former member of Intertel and Mensa. He was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church and a former school teacher. Mac taught school for 2 years before joining the Atlantic Coast Line as a traveling auditor, later moving to FL with CSX and retiring as asst. to the Auditor of Revenues. Memorial service will be Saturday 8/25 at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The family is grateful to the staff of Palm Garden Nursing Home and to Community Hospice for their caring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church or to a charity. Please Sign the Guestbook @ Jacksonville.com
