PORTLAND, Maine -- Kermit Avery Sanborn, 89, died Sept. 19, 2009, at home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Boothbay Harbor, May 10, 1920, to Freeman and Florence Sanborn. A graduate of Portland High School, he later attended Bryant and Stratton Business College in Boston. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
For more than 30 years he sold supplies to the printing industry in Maine and New Hampshire for Northeastern Graphic Supply. In 2008 he was honored to receive the Founder's Award from the Maine Graphic Arts Association.
He loved fishing, camping, hunting, and picnicking -- especially with his family.
He was a member of the Denmark and South Portland Lions clubs, the Masons and Eastern Star, Denmark Congregational Church and South Portland Thornton Heights United Methodist Church.
His remarkable sense of humor will be missed.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Eleanor Sanborn.
Family members include two son, Vaughn Sanborn of Port Republic, Md. and William Sanborn of Denmark; a daughter, Suzanne Austin of Kennebunk; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
SERVICES: Visiting hours at Raymond-Wentworth Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Bridgton are Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Masonic ceremony at 7 p.m. A funeral service will be Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Denmark Congregational Church. Interment will follow at Berry Cemetery.
