To the family of Bro. Leonard Hopkins Jr.. I pray that you feel the warmth of Gods unfailing love as you go thru this period of mourning in your lives. The Bible tells us the weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning... Trust that in God, your morning will come real soon.. May God continue to bless you and keep you. Know that in His word, He said that He will never leave nor forsake you, and this is true..

Lil Len was a favorite cousin, nephew, uncle and friend to many. Last year at a family cookout he entered a hot wing eating contest. The wings were fiery HOT. You actually have to sign a consent form before you buy these wings. Lil Len was to funny, running and running in search of water. I was right on his heels chasing behind him with the camcorder! Lil Len you are missed.
I have so many wonderful memories of my beloved nephew.
Chrissy, you are loved very much. GOD IS GOOD!!

To the entire Hopkins Family,
In times like these, words are hard to find that can comfort and ease the pain, but please know that only God can give you the strength you need to make it day by day. Each of you are in our prayers.

Chrissy: Lil Len loved you and the kids from the bottom of his heart. You are a daughter to us. Yes, we will miss him but I believe he is our guardian angel and will watch over you, Kierra, Montez and Jordan. God will give you the strength and comfort your heart in the knowledge that Lil Len has found true peace. I praise God for the many friends and relatives who are so caring. Just remember that Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what's to be, a resting place along the road to sweet eternity.
Jesus never fails and right now He is carrying you, Kierra, Montez, Jordan, family and friends who share the sweet memories of him.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Chrissy,
My heart and prayers goes out to you and the boys, you were not only my cousin’s wife but a good friend even though I haven’t seen you in a while. There are no words that can be said that will take your pain away, but know that God will see you through this. You know that Lil Len loved you so very much and that you meant the world to him. The two of you have been together since High School and I saw how crazy he was about you back then. I remember the first time I met you, I knew then that you were the perfect one for him. You and Len were meant to be together. I know that it’s going to be hard for a while but always remember the positive things about him and the good times that you had with him. You are his Wife and no one knew him better than you. But I can tell you as your friend first and Len’s cousin that even though we haven’t spoken in a while I will always be here for you if you need anything. If you need me to cook I’m there, if you need me to clean up I’m there, if you need someone to get the boys I’m there, If you need to talk I’m there. Just know that you’re not alone. You are the most sweetest and kindhearted person that I know. I’m lucky and proud to be able to call you my friend. I promise you that this time you won’t see a distance from me. Leonard was truly loved and will be missed and he will always have a place in my heart.
Love You,
Angela

Mrs. Hopkins,
Even though I have not seen Len in a while, I was quite saddened to hear of his passing. I will always remember our carefree days as children at Edgewood Baptist. He was always a gentleman and will honestly be missed.
But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Thessalonians 4:13-17 (KJV)

To the Hopkins family and friends may the comfort of the Holy Spirit sustain you during this time of transition.
May the memories of Brother Leonard C. Hopkins, Jr., be reflected in the words the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 4:8 (KJV) “8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
With deepest sympathy and compassion may the Holy Spirit continue to strengthen the family and friends.
Father God,
In this time of need, strengthen the Hopkins family and their friends. You are their strength and their shield; You are their refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. I know, Father God, that Your eyes go to and fro throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts long for You. The body grows weary, but my hope is in You to renew the Hopkins' family strength.
They will not let fear overcome them, for they know You oh God are with them.
They will not be dismayed or overwhelmed, for You are our God. I know You will strengthen the Hopkins' family and help them; that You will uphold the Hopkins' family with Your righteous hand. Even as the shadows of sadness covers them, allow them to feel the comfort of Your strength, Oh Lord our redeemer in Christ Jesus, Amen.

I don't think there is anything that anyone could say that would take this pain away from Chrissy, the kids or us as his friends. I can't imagine losing my husband or the father of my children at a young age. Leonard and I as well as so many others go back to the age of 11. Losing him was losing a piece of all of us. It really hurts, I have a lot of questions but I know it's not for me to question Gods will so I will have to let it go but I do know this, Leonard will always be with us. Mrs. Hopkins said it the best at the service, God loved Leonard the best.

I am sorry for your loss, Len was aways raving about his "youngins", I knew he was a great father. He was a kind person with a personality that was joyous and energetic, he could make anyone smile with his laugh.
It is sad that he had to depart the earth like this, I know that he will continue to look over his children, and family from heaven.

My heart is full of sorrow; you will never imagine how close I held the two of you to my heart, Chrissy and Leonard, one of my favorite couples. I remember when you first starting dating in 1991 like it were yesterday, he loved him some Chris. We all know he loved you more than anything; in fact, he expressed it to me many times. That is what I admired about him so much. He had a wonderful spirit, one of the nicest and warmest souls I ever met. He will truly be missed by so many. I can’t even began to imagine your pain, but I want you to remember I promise to be here whenever you need me any hour of the day.
