Hi, everyone. This is Emma. I'm sorry I was a little late signing in but I felt like I ought to sign in. Great-Grandaddy's life was great, and we all knew it would end eventually. I hope he would be happy to know I signed in here.

It was early spring,1985...Jeykell Island, GA...the Jeykell Island Saturday night dance at the local social center. Big band music playing Glenn Miller's songs, a glittering ball hanging from the celing in the center of the dance floor, and everyone dancing...including moi!!! Thank you, Marshall, for dancing with me and charming all the girls (including your daughter, and my best friend, Marsha)! The two step will never be the same without you...

I served on the same ship, the VANCE, in 1966-1969 that your Father did in WWII. I mourn the loss of a fellow shipmate. He will be remembered in services at our reunion.
