William A. Salem

William Albert "Bill" Salem, 56, of Wytheville died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008. Funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Hal Lewis officiating. A graveside service was held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. at the St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. He was born July 1, 1952, in Oakland, Calif. He was a broker and graduate of East Tennessee State University. He was an avid sportsman and died doing what he loved best – playing ball. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Salem. Survivors include his mother, Nadine Dunford Salem of Wytheville; fiancée and longtime girlfriend, Linda Farnsworth of Roanoke; six aunts and uncles, E.J. Dunford and wife Ella of San Antonio, Texas, Howard Dunford and wife Beulah of Johnson City, Tenn., Larry Dunford and wife Debbie of Wytheville, Faye Dunford and husband Pete of Max Meadows, Linda Finn and companion Buddy Blair of Wytheville, Rosie Campbell and husband Claude of Lake Wales, Fla.; several cousins and other relatives. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
