Margaret Thomas Obituary

Margaret Horne Thomas, 83, of Speedwell died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008. Funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 26, at 2 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ginny Tompkins and Doug Stuart officiating. Interment was in the Groseclose Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. She was a member of Groseclose Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Edith Ryan Horne; and husband, James H. Thomas. Survivors include four daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy and Harold Willis of Gate City, Linda and Carlton White, Edith and James Bartee, Susie and Robert "Bim" Stuart, all of Speedwell; three sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Helen Thomas, James "Bo" and Darnell Thomas, and Ray Thomas, all of Speedwell; three sisters, Betty McDonald, Maude Cox and Mae Dodson, all of Wytheville; brother and sister-in-law, Marion "Marty" and Freida Horne of Roanoke; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the Rural Retreat Rescue Squad or the Speedwell Volunteer Fire Department. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.
