Rev. Virginia Asbury Harmon Kennedy

Rev. Virginia (Sissy) Asbury Harmon Kennedy, age 65 of Richlands, Va., went home to be with her Lord Sun., Nov. 2, 2008. Born April 14, 1943 in Buchanan County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Virgie Mae Asbury of West Virginia. She was a homemaker and proud wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and sister. She was an ordained evangelist and beloved attendee of many churches in the region. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Rev. Ted Kennedy of Richlands; six sons, Charlie Kenneth Harmon of the Richmond, Va., area, William Kennedy and wife, Nicole, Roy Kennedy, Jason Kennedy, Pershing Scott Kennedy and wife, Amanda, all of Richlands, and Shawn Kennedy of Cincinnati, Ohio; two daughters, Deborah Anderson Brown and husband, Arthur, and Priscilla Hampton and husband, Sid, of Easley, S.C.; three step-children, Mary T. Moore and husband, Clyde, of Richlands, Ted Kennedy, II of Charlottesville and Rodney Kennedy and wife, Caroline, of Baptist Valley; 23 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thurs., Nov. 6, 2008 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with Douglas Smith and Michael Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tues. and Wed., Nov. 4 and 5 at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va.
