Billie L. Hagy Thompson

Mrs. Billie L. Hagy Thompson, age 86, of Richlands, Va., passed away Thurs., Oct. 30, 2008. Born April 27, 1922 in Gary, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late George William and Carrie Watson Hagy. She was the last living charter member of The Philathian Guild. She was a member of the First Christian Church and the Claypool Hill Church of Christ. She was devoted to her church and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Calvin Thompson; one sister, Ruth Hagy; and one brother, Thomas Witten Hagy. She is survived by one daughter, Susan Thacker and husband, Jim of Richlands; two sons, Jim Thompson and wife, Janet Woosley of Cedar Bluff and Wayne Thompson and wife, Brenda of Cedar Bluff; one brother, Glen Hagy and wife, Jenny of Cedar Bluff; sister-in-law, Peggy Hagy of Richlands; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; special caregivers, Janet Maggard and Tishia Shelton. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sun., Nov. 2, 2008 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va., with Evangelist Bob Smith and Rev. Stafford Compton officiating. Burial followed in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Family and friends served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were ladies of The Philathian Guild.
