Shirley Ann Smith, 66, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008 in Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion. She was born in Richmond on Dec. 20, 1941 to the late Thomas Lincoln Golden and Clarice Golden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. She was a loving homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband, D.L. Smith; three daughters, Wilma Armstrong and husband, Eddie, Barbara Harris and husband, Terry, and Crystal Peake; two sons, Tony Smith and Margaret Cornett and Merlin Smith and wife, Janie; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six brothers, Jerry Wayne Golden, Billy Gray Golden, Jimmy Golden, James Golden, Arvil Golden, and Ralph Golden; and four sisters, Becky Moore, Linda Mae Hope, Janice Dailey and Betty Ann Hodges. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 4, from Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Boyette officiating. Interment followed in Attoway Cemetery. The family received friends Monday from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com.
