Virginia Rickey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 7 to Nov. 14, 2008.
Virginia Agnes Rickey, 87, a lifelong resident of Max Meadows, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at Wythe County Community Hospital in Wytheville. Funeral service was held Friday, Nov. 7, at 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home with the Revs. Randy Morris and Gleasanna Johnson officiating. A graveside service will be held Saturday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at West End Cemetery in Wytheville. She was born Nov. 17, 1920, daughter of the late Charles and Alverta Porter Rickey. She was retired from Pendleton Construction Co. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Forest Cole, Maude Umberger and Sallie McKelvey; and three brothers, Boyd Rickey, Russell Rickey and Robert Rickey. Survivors include a brother, Herbert Rickey of Max Meadows; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Verle Snavely of Max Meadows. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Max Meadows United Methodist Church Building Fund. Barnett Funeral Home in Wytheville is in charge of the arrangements.

With sympathy over your loss. I know Agnes is at home with her Lord and with the Rickey family. She was dear to all of us -- and was so loved by her McKelvy family.

Herb, So sorry to read about your loss. Hope you are doing well. It's been a while since I saw you, or any of the old gang for that matter. With deepest sympathy for your loss, Libby Weddle Barnes
