Peggy Jones Obituary

Peggy Jean Jones, 72, of Wytheville died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at her home. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 1 p.m. at the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with Father Kent Tarpley officiating. Her ashes will be interred later in the Earhart-Huddle Family Cemetery in the Huddle community of Wythe County. She was born in Thomasville, N.C., daughter of the late Arthur Dillon Jones and the late Lillie Wagner Jones Money. She attended Western Carolina University where she received a bachelor or arts degree in English and literature and was an honor student. She received her master's degree in English and literature from Radford University. Her teaching career began in the Northern Virginia counties of Prince William, Fairfax and Stafford. She served as president of the Prince William County Education Assoc. She was not only an educator but also was an accomplished sculptor and poet. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Doris Jones McBride and John of Henderson, N.C.; a niece, Kimberly McBride of Birmingham, Ala.; longtime teaching associate and friend, Rebecca Sue Huddle; and many other relatives and friends. Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 275 E. Main Street, Wytheville, VA 24382; or Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 600 West Ridge Road, Wytheville, VA 24382. Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville was in charge of the arrangements.

Peggy was a great lady. I used to visit her and her little dog Peppi.
I'm sure she is missed so much by Peppi, as they were so close, and loved each other so much. I will miss her too.
