Charity Elizabeth Brown

Mrs. Charity Elizabeth Brown, age 95, of Cedar Bluff, Va., passed away Mon., Nov. 3, 2008 at her home following a lengthy illness. She was born in Tazewell County and was the daughter of the late Martin and Maggie A. Taylor Lester. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of Raven Assembly of God and attended the Steelesburg United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Brown; one daughter, Margaret Irene Brown; three sisters, Ellar Vice, Mary Brown, and Ocie Blankenship; and one son-in-law, Bob Wilson. Survivors are: two daughters: Kansas Wilson of Cedar Bluff, Va., Shirley Lamie and husband, John, of Richlands, Va.; four sons: Frank Brown and wife, Glenna, of Ft. Meyers, Fla., Ray Brown and wife, Barbara, of Cedar Bluff, Va., Andrew Brown and wife, Bonnie, of Wendell, N.C., Joe Brown and wife, Reva, of Hillsville, Va.; one sister: Amanda Woolridge of Lexington, Va.; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Charity Elizabeth Brown were conducted Thurs., Nov. 6, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va., with the Rev. J.C. Johnson and Rev. Bill Shook officiating. Interment followed at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Friends called after 6:00 p.m. Wed., Nov. 5, at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va.
