Ellen Turner Walk Sheets

Ellen Turner Walk Sheets, 82, of Dogwood St., Morganton, N.C., died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2008 at Grace Hospital. Born Sept. 3, 1926 in Washington County, she was a daughter of the late John Van Walk and Rosie Davidson Walk. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She dearly loved her family, her church, and all of God's creatures. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Lee Sheets, an infant daughter, Bessie Sheets, a son, Carl Wayne Sheets Sr., a grandson, Jayden Lee Peyton, and sisters, Irene Ferguson, Christina Walk, Lora Bell Walk, and Lonnie Mae Walk. Survivors include her sons, Robert Lee Sheets and his wife, Norma, of Lexington, S.C., Charles "Wolf" Walk and Lee Sheets, both of Morganton; daughters, Saunders Janette Bryant and her husband, Larry, and Jean Patton and her husband, Kenneth, all of Morganton; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Elmer Walk of Radcliffe, Ky. The funeral was conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Antioch Baptist Church with the Revs. Clarence Cornell and Jerrill Townsend officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends at Sossoman Funeral Home from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday and at other times with the family at the home of Saunders and Larry Bryant on Amherst Road.
