Necie A. Burnett

Necie Ellen Akers Burnett, 80, of Austinville died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008. Funeral service was held Monday, Nov. 17, at 11 a.m. at River Hill Christian Church in Galax with the Rev. Leo Phillips officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She was born March 9, 1928. She was a devout Christian and an active member of River Hill Christian Church in Galax. She was owner and operator of Necie's Beauty Salon in Austinville for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther C. Burnett of Austinville; her parents, Raymond and Ada Akers of Woodlawn; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lester and Nancy Burnett of Galax; sister and brother-in-law, Agnes Eanes and Pete of Salem; and a brother-in-law, Whitfield Burnett of Galax. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Doris E. Sexton and William of Max Meadows; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Luther "Buddy" Burnett and Gequina of Austinville; two grandchildren and spouses, Tammy Snyder and Patrick of Marysville, Ohio, Robert Joseph "Joe" Burnett and Denita of Austinville; four stepgrandchildren and spouse, Angela S. Millan and Joshua of Austinville, Felicia Sexton and Marissa Sexton, both of Max Meadows, and Angela Brackens of Austinville; five great-grandchildren, Katie Burnett, Gaven Burnett, Emily Snyder, Nathan Snyder and Anna Snyder; sister and brother-in-law, Ila Mae Burcham and Clyde of Woodlawn; sister-in-law, Thelma Burnett of Galax; and numerous nieces and nephews. Reese Funeral Home in Austinville was in charge of the arrangements.
